Amazon Anime Strike Shuts Down After Just One Year
Unveiled at the 2016 New York Comic Con, Amazon Anime Strike was a streaming service that offered a curated selection of anime shows and movies.
The service was targeted at anime fans, and it featured a variety of popular titles, including "Naruto," "One Piece," and "Attack on Titan."
Amazon Anime Strike was available as a standalone service for $4.99 per month, or as an add-on to Amazon Prime for $1.99 per month. However, it failed to gain traction with viewers, and Amazon announced its closure on 31st January 2019.
In a statement, Amazon said that it was "discontinuing" Anime Strike due to "business considerations." The company did not provide any further details, but it is likely that the service was not profitable and that Amazon decided to cut its losses.
The closure of Anime Strike is a blow to anime fans, as it was one of the few streaming services that offered a dedicated selection of anime content. However, there are still a number of other streaming services that offer anime, including Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu.
